porcelain. Mat ash glaze with heavy ash deposit on one side. Surface texture varies between silky mat to highly glossy with lots of glassy ash with delicate crackles. This piece was at the front of the firebox and got a lot of ash and heat. The foot is so soft and glassy because of all the ash and heat it received.
Wood Fired to cone 12 (or event hotter)
This piece is one of a kind, just like every item that comes out of the wood kiln. Even using the same making technique and glaze will have different results based on placement in the kiln. Nothing can really be duplicated.
