This class is focused on the vast and wonderful world of handbuilding! We will be meeting every Monday for 3 hours over 6 weeks, starting on Monday, September 1st.
This class is open to beginners as well as people with experience who want to refine their skills and learn new techniques. We will be touching on several handbuilding techniques, using handmade tools and formers and learning a variety of decorating techniques. Handbuilding is not only fun, it is so varied that you can do almost anything with the different techniques.
Week 1:
Pinch pots, intro to clay as a material
Demo: little dish, bowl, candle holder
Week 2:
Coil building a plant pot / vase
Demo: plant pot
Week 3:
Slab building: mugs, plates, using formers (slump molds) and stamps. Demo: set of matching mugs
Week 4:
Guided free time, mini demo of student’s choice
Week 5:
Demo: Decorating with underglaze & glaze on bisqueware
Week 6:
Last class! Pot luck & glazing our pots!
Students will be able to come back around 2 weeks after the class ends to pick up their treasures <3
